What is the average cost of a consumer mailing list?

I would like cost per listing for email and direct mail but not phone.
The target market is college students.

  1. The Ad Guru says:

You can usually get them as low as 4 cents per record (name, address, etc.)

  2. amontef says:

You can probably get something like a 1000 for $50. I imagine the higher amount you buy the better the cost will be.
What you have to keep in mind is that the avg response rate is only 1-2%, if you are lucky.

In my experience at 3 – 4 cents per record for basic info, but you really want to be as targeted as possible, but of course the more target your list the higher the cost of it. The below list broker’s site is a good resource to learn about consumer mailing lists

  4. James says:

Pricing generally depends on the numbers of records that you order. We do not recommend buying consumers’ email addresses. Most reputable list owners will not sell consumer email addresses. What you will get for 3-5 cents will be spam. College students move around a lot so I would caution you against buying cheap data. There are really only two or three good sources for college students’ postal addresses in the USA, and they do not sell their data for 3-5 cents per record.
