Responding to an e-mail with a phone call?

I work in marketing and I spend most of the day on my computer. I have set calls with vendors throughout the week. If answered my phone every time it rang, it would be difficult to get any work done.

Recently I’ve been dealing with a vendor who feels the need to respond to every e-mail with a phone call, even if my e-mail is something simple like “I would like to set up a time for a call. In the meantime, please send me this info.” so I send the e-mail and 2 minutes later, he calls me, but I don’t answer because I’m in the middle of a completely different task.

Is it so much to ask to expect people to respond to e-mail requests with an e-mail, or am I just being too picky?
I think some of you misunderstood. I am the client, not the vendor. My company pays other companies to use their services.

Do you think it’s tacky to send an e-mail out to a list of people to try to market my business?

I realize that in today’s word it’s called SPAM. I simply copy and paste a list of e-mail address that I obtained from the local Chamber of Commerce directory into the “Bcc” field in my e-mail program and send an my ad (a flyer in PDF format). I do this once a month and send it out to approximately 275 people. This is my second month doing this and so far I have only had two people reply back and ask me to remove them from the list. I am assuming some people are just deleting the e-mail without reading it too.
