Got a Job rejection e-mail – Help

I applied for this job two weeks ago, followed up with a call to see if they received the resume last week. Lady was very polite and said they did receive it, but the process does not start until 2-4 weeks. What ever the job description says i posses all the skills and have the experience and then some. I have a 4 year degree in the field the job is in, and i am even going for my Masters right now. I received an e-mail today sent by the assistant of the human resources manager, but signed by the hr manager. here is what the message says:

“Thank you for your interest in the position of Marketing Assistant at ****. Notwithstanding your training, we are searching for a candidate whose education and experience are more in keeping with our position requirements.

I am sorry that we don’t have anything for you, but I want to wish you the best of luck in your job search.”

I received rejection letters AFTER the interview before, but never received a rejection letter without an interview. I can understand after an interview for rejecting someone, but rejecting someone without an interview left me speechless. Especially when the e-mail says that they are looking for someone who has an education and experience geared around the position. I was like, ***? did you even read my resume? I want to contact them, but don’t know what to say. I don’t want to be rude or take this personal, i just want to get my point across and say i am very fit for this position.

New graduate looking for career advice relating to marketing, sports and travel?

I just recently graduated college with a BBA degree in marketing. Now I am out on the market looking for a good job. I really want to work in either a.) the sports industry, football, baseball, basketball, anything or b.) a career that involves a lot of travel, hopefully something around event marketing. However, both of these markets are very hard to enter into or you need a lot of previous experience. Is there anyone out there that has any connections or advice / tips on how they got started in sports marketing industry or an events marketing job with lots of travel? Thank-you … anything you have to say about this would be helpful.

I’ll send you an application via e-mail?

I am currently on the job market. I receive calls from HR recruiters who conduct a telephone interview. The interviews seem to end on a positive note and they say “I’ll e-mail you an application for you to fill out and mail back, and recommend that they interview you in person.”

Most of the time, the application never arrives. Is this industry practice as a polite, passive-aggressive way to jilt a canidate they have illiminated on the phone interview?

What should I write in my e-mail (asking for a job)?

I am writing a marketing/pr company in hollywood that specializes in throwing parties for celebrity events.

I am 20, and a girl, and pretty (which I guess helps in this industry)…plus I know I would be perfect for the job because I can be organized and responsible, etc..

only problem is my resume only includes working at a restaurant, babysitting, and retail (non of which help me in this position)…

I want to e-mail a short and simple paragraph to the person in charge of the company, but what should I write? should I include a picture?

What “title” would you give my job?

I work for an insurance company. Here are some of the things I do:
-Generate weekly newsletter and email to our subscriber base
-Scan the internet looking for mentions of our company and our competitors
-Oversee our company web site and make changes as needed (not an IT person, though – no formal training)
-Monitor web traffic to our site
-Write emails, create marketing pieces (mostly text) as directed by our company president and my supervisor
-Come up with ideas for new ways to sell our insurance products
-Attend trade shows and mingle with people
-A lot of work directly from the company president, such as correspondance to emails he gets.

They never really gave me a title for this job. It started as CSR since I was taking calls initially, but havent for about 18 months now. I want to apply for other jobs but am not sure what to put as job title, as CSR is misleading.

Is this a marketing director? Marketing & Communications director? Internet Marketing Specialist? What else?

how to apply for web designer job w/o a portfolio?

i’m currently working in an e-marketing solutions company. i’ve help create landing pages for one of the cell phone service providers by use of html and css. i also have used photoshop, imageready, javascript, and dreamweaver to create emails and other pages. i consider myself with a pretty solid knowledge of coding and with those applications.

i’ve never taken a design course — i’ve learned everything myself in the past and in my current job so i’m unsure of how a portfolio works. i recently found an open position stating qualifications for basic knowledge of all that i have, but i just don’t have a portfolio. i wasn’t sure if i could include the landing pages since i only do the html/css coding and others contribute to them with their back-end web development. how do i compile one, especially since there are other contributors to the work?
