Can i still be a marketing researcher if i study mass communication?

I am currently deciding what diploma course i would wana choose.I would also wana huv more job options,so i chose to study mass communication.I wana b involved in d advertising industry,event planner,being an editor and i may even wana b involved in marketing,especially in being a marketing researcher. But i don’t really knoe whether i can still b a marketing researcher if i study mass communication?
